Canadian Mist General Manager David Dobbin performed the first toast to celebrate the launch of Collingwood Canadian Whiskey at the Collingwood LCBO on Wednesday, August 31st.
Local restaurants and businesses are celebrating the launch of the new Collingwood Whiskey by creating special recipes and menu items, some of which were available for taste-testing at the launch party.
Brown-Forman Canada's Country Manager Brad Fletcher said that every batch of Collingwood starts with the finest Canadian grains, pure spring water from Georgian Bay and a truly unique mellowing process. "We set out to create a whiskey that is as smooth as the country that it's from, and we are confident we've accomplished that."
Collingwood Councillor Mike Edwards said that the launch of this new local whiskey is tremendous news for the town. "You can't buy this type of world-wide publicity."
Collingwood Mayor Sandra Cooper said the product launch represents an example of how manufacturing and tourism enhance one another. "A successful launch of Collingwood Canadian Whiskey will help broaden and heighten the town's tourism to include the distillery's history and local roots."
Local farmers also stand to gain from a successful Collingwood launch. The whiskey is made from Ontario grown corn which is Ontario's second largest cash crop.
